Maui New Zealand General Motorhome Hire Conditions
Below is a summary of some of the Maui Rental Conditions for Motorhome /Campervan / RV hires. For full detailed Conditions please contact us. Please note all prices quoted in this document are in New Zealand dollars.
Rates and conditions quoted in our brochures and/or documentation are subject to change without notice.
| 1. | Rental Days: Calculated on a per calendar day basis. | ||||||||||
| 2. | Minimum Rental: A minimum hire period of 5 Days is required for all motorhome rentals (except 20 Dec - 10 Jan when the minimum rental is 7 days). All motorhome hires in New Zealand will have a minimum requirement of 10 days when travel is from North Island to the South Island from October to March. | ||||||||||
| 3. | For Your Protection: New Zealand legislation provides limited coverage for personal injury. However we strongly recommend that all people travelling in New Zealand take out Personal Travel Insurance. All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first NZ$7,500 ("the excess") of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism with the exception of the 'exclusions'. This also includes the cost of the daily rental fo the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs. The excess is applicalbe regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded is Maui is successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party. The excess applies in respect of each claim, not each rental. This NZ$7,500 excess can be reduced, in most circumstances, by the purchase of Excess Reduction Option 1 or Option 2. | ||||||||||
| a) | Excess Reduction Option 1 at NZ$29 per day (max charge NZ$1,450) will reduce the excess to NZ$2,500. |

| b) | Excess Reduction Option 2 at NZ$45 per day (max charge NZ$2,250) will reduce the excess to $Nil for Third Party property or to the rented vehicle. These covers include damage to the vehicle for single vehicle accident,windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break in or vandalism. |

| c) | 'Exclusions' (ie not covered in the insurance): • Any water related damage (eg river crossings, driving through low plan flooded areas etc) • Personal belongings (these should be covered by your personal travel insurance) • Any willfull misconduct that damages the vehicle or driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol • A single vehicle roll over (ie no other party/vehicle involved) These are some of the main exclusions but is not limited to this list. Please request full terms and conditions from our tour consultant. |

| 4. | Vehicle Security Deposit: On pick up of the vehicle, a Vehicle Security Deposit is payable. The amount is determined by the Protection Package selected (refer to the "For Your Protection" section). For security purposes, only a credit card can be used to provide a vehicle security deposit. If you do not take Excess Reduction any of the Excess Reduction Options the Security Deposit is NZ$7,500.00 payable by credit card. If Excess Reduction Option 1 is taken, the Security Deposit is NZ$2,500. If Excess Reduction Option 2 is taken, the Security Deposit is NZ$220 The Security Deposit is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned on time, to the correct location, undamaged, with a clean interior and with full fuel tanks (fuel being petrol, Diesel and LPG gas). | ||||||||||
| 5. | Diesel Tax Recovery Fee: A government imposed Diesel Tax Recovery Fee will be calculated on the return of your vehicle based on the kilometres travelled during your hire. Payment will be accepted locally at completion of your hire. The vehicle rates per 100km are as follows: 2 Berth unleaded petrol - NIL 2 Berth diesel / 2 Berth Grande - NZ$4.45 2 Berth (Toilet and Shower) / 4 Berth - NZ$4.70 6 Berth - NZ$4.85 |

| 6. | Licence: A full resident country driver's licence, is to be presented at the time of rental. If the licence is not in English format, an international drivers licence is also required. | ||||||||||
| 7. | Age Restrictions: The minimum driver age is 21 years. A medical certificate is required for drivers over the age of 75. | ||||||||||
| 8. | Change of Vehicle: Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, Maui reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to a refund. | ||||||||||
| 9. | Location Fee: A fee of $210 will apply for all hires with a pick up or drop off in Wellington or Queenstown. Only one fee is due per hire. This surcharge is payable to Maui directly upon collection of the vehicle. | ||||||||||
| 10. | Transfers: Maui provides free airport to branch and branch to airport transfer on day of arrival and departure for the Auckland and Christchurch branches. Queenstown branch is located at the Airport. | ||||||||||
| 11. | One Way Rentals: A fee of $300 is charged between the North and South Islands (and vice versa) if travel occurs between October and March. | ||||||||||
| 12. | Interisland travel: If vehicle is required for both islands, a ferry crossing is required and can be arranged at additional cost. | ||||||||||

| 14. | All motorhomes booked are manual transmission. From April 2010, the Spirit 2 T/S (2BTSM), Spirit 4 (4BM) and Spirit 6 (6BM) can be booked with an automatic transmission. If you wish to book an automatic motorhome a surcharge of NZ$10 per day applies if you require a guarantee of an automatic motorhome. This is still subject to availability but will be confirmed at the time of booking. |
